About the Business

Cirencester Judo Club was established in 1974 and whilst the club has has operated from various locations in the town, the current Dojo is hosted at Cotswold Leisure Centre, Old Tetbury Road.

Traditionally Judo has been an amateur sport delivered by expert yet volunteer coaches. This approach has always allowed Judo to be a relatively inexpensive sport. CJC have always run the club on a voluntary, non-profit making basis, whilst financing all the club requirements.

CJC was originally and throughout the 1970s and 1980s affiliated to the British Judo Council (BJC).

The current Cirencester Judo Club is a member of the British Judo Association (Club 2180), and part of the Gloucestershire County Judo and Western Area Judo BJA organisations respectively.

All coaching staff are BJA trained and accredited, are DBS (formerly CRB) police checked, and have extensive experience of delivering coaching and syllabus instruction to Junior and Senior players alike.

Our Club follows BJA guidelines and standards regarding child protection and our BJA membership means that public liability and individual coach insurance is in place.

Affiliation with the BJA also gives our members the opportunity to participate in local, regional and national BJA competitions. Those that excel can contend for regional/national squad places.

Currently CJC has 50+ registered members.
