About the Business
Aikido Greenock was founded in 2010 by Brian Murray, 3rd Dan Iwama Ryu. Our dojo is affiliated to Aikido Dojo Scotland under the direction of Stephen Colville, 6th Dan Iwama Ryu and is a member of the Fundamental Aikido Association under the direction of Daniel Toutain Sensei, 6th Dan Iwama Ryu.
At our dojo in Greenock, we practice the traditional style of Aikido as taught by the founder Morihei Ueshiba in his adopted home town of Iwama Japan, and preserved and codified by his senior student in Iwama, Morihiro Saito. A short overview of these great masters is included in our History section.
For those who are unfamiliar with Aikido, there is a commentary in our Aikido section but I would strongly advise anyone who is curious about this unique martial art to come along to one of our training nights and experience it for themselves.
